Biffy Clyro
Biffy Clyro are a Scottish rock band from Kilmarnock, comprising Simon Neil (vocals, keyboard), James Johnston (bass, vocals) and Ben Johnston (drums, vocals). After their first three albums, the band expanded their following significantly with the release of their fourth, Puzzle in 2007. The album was released to critical acclaim, and went gold in the UK selling over 100,000 units. Biffy Clyro’s popularity was built upon further in 2008 and 2009 with the release of the singles “Mountains” and “That Golden Rule”, which both reached the top 10 of the UK singles chart. Their next album, 2009’s Only Revolutions was also successful reaching #8 in the UK chart and also going Gold within days of its release.
The band’s sound is characterised by a heavy, yet melodic, mixture of guitar, bass and drums, with all three band members contributing to vocals. They are known for using in their songs complex and interwoven guitar riffs, unusual time signatures and chord sequences and melodies that often change throughout songs.

Biffy Clyro With drummer Ben Johnston at V Festival Stafford show in 2009

March 2, 2010

With drummer Ben Johnston providing a simple driving beat for much of the track at V Festival, the song was hinged on Neil’s chiming guitar lines. The singer played his lead notes while singing the vocal parts to the song, until a change of pace midway through which saw the band finish the track instrumentally.Follow-up song ‘Living Is A Problem Because Everybody Dies’ had many audience members singing along with bassist Johnston’s backing vocals. Some audience members were distracted midway through the performance, when several people decided to throw their drinks at another crowd member who was sitting on a friend’s shoulders.Ignoring the scuffle, the band continued their set, with a sweat-drenched Neil playing a solo version of ‘Machines’ on an acoustic guitar, much to the crowd’s delight.Despite the band playing their set in broad daylight, they put on an impressive lightshow set against the stage’s black backdrop during ‘Get Fucked Stud’.Biffy Clyro’s last song – Number 5 UK single ‘Mountains’ – proved to be the biggest crowd pleaser, with the band playing an impassioned version of the 2008 track that ended with drummer Johnston throwing his sticks into the audience in celebratory fashion.Buy & Sell V Festival Tickets through YourTicketMarket.com One stop shop to catch your favourite event Tickets like V Festival Tickets, Guaranteed, Fast and Secure!

Biffy Clyro play new album material at V Festival Stafford show  in 2009
Biffy Clyro played two new songs during their V Festival appearance on the V Stage at the bash’s Stafford site this afternoon (August 22).The Scottish trio – who were all topless for the entire set – surprised much of the crowd by kicking into new single ‘That Golden Rule’ first off. However, the song – which is released this Monday (August 24) – proved to be a massive success with fans, with a fair portion singing along with the chorus.Later in their set, singer-guitarist Simon Neil and bassist James Johnston squared up to each other at the start of ‘A Whole Child Ago’, playing the opening riff eye-to-eye. The track, from 2007 album ‘Puzzle’, saw several fans towards the front of the stage moshing, while those further back opted to sing along instead.Neil followed that song by announcing that the band would play another unreleased track, called ‘Bubbles’.Buy & Sell V Festival Tickets through YourTicketMarket.com One stop shop to catch your favourite event Tickets like V Festival Tickets, Guaranteed, Fast and Secure!

Security and Safety

February 24, 2010

Security and Safety
If you don’t need it – don’t bring it! Carry money, credit cards, mobile phones, cameras, etc with you at all times. Don’t assume that you’ve hidden it well in your tent. V Festival has a very good safety history however, festivals do attract criminals who spend summer touring the festivals and stealing from tents and cars. We work closely with the Police and Security to try to alleviate the problems. There is a lock-up facility based in the Welfare Tent for your use.
Mark your property with your name and postcode only, thieves don’t want marked property and it will significantly reduce the risk of items being stolen. Tag your keys with your phone number and a friend’s address. We find many keys after the event and marking them means we can return them to you.
Leave your tent untidy don’t make it easy for thieves to grab a bag with everything in it.
When asleep, hide your money, etc carefully and don’t put everything together. Too much drink can make you sleep heavily and you may not hear somebody entering your tent.
If you see anybody acting suspiciously anywhere in the festival site, please alert a Steward or the Police. You can also alert Crimestoppers who will be based at the festival.
If you think you’ve had an item stolen, please go to the Welfare Tent as it may have been handed in.
Ensure you know where your nearest emergency exits are.
Follow any instructions given by Stewards, Security and Police
Move away from any dangerous/antisocial behaviour and alert Security if they are not already in the immediate vicinity.Buy & Sell V Festival Tickets through YourTicketMarket.com One stop shop to catch your favourite event Tickets like V Festival Tickets, Guaranteed, Fast and Secure!

Charity Tent Collection at V Festival

February 23, 2010

Charity Tent Collection
The Rotary Club of Brewood & District will be on site on Monday collecting tents and other camping gear that has been left behind in a salvageable condition. This will all be collected, stored and used in international disasters such as the Tsunami of Boxing Day 2004 and the earthquake in Pakistan last year.
PLEASE NOTE.  We feel that due to so many outlets offering very cheap camping gear that in recent years too many tents have been left behind, it is impossible for the charities to collect them all and many of them have gone to waste, we ask that if you would like your tent to go to charity that you fold it down and leave it at the collection point near to the exit of the campsites.  Please think about the environment and don’t leave unwanted tents behind because you may have purchased it cheaply.Buy & Sell V Festival Tickets through YourTicketMarket.com One stop shop to catch your favourite event Tickets like V Festival Tickets, Guaranteed, Fast and Secure!
